What happens to those who are isolated?:  A lack of social contact can cause people to go insane.  Most of the symptoms of isolation is related to that of depression.  It is still not concluded why these are the effects or why social isolation can be so hard to cope with.  Although if the solitude is by choice it is usually because they feel withdrawn by society.  It can also be caused by the absence of friends or loved ones.  Some scientists have studied further in this field by making hypotheses and running experiments.  The majority say that the way the brain is wired causes this useless feeling of emptiness.  When the isolation is more severe, it can cause you to go mad.  Even more so if your senses are deprived. An experiment was held to prove this.  Participants were put in a small, dark,  soundproof room with no other human contact or devices.  They were incredibly frightened and soon turned insane.  Some even implied that they were hallucinating strange things such as dogs, babies and other fantasies.

Seniors often suffer from this more than others.  This is most likely because their children have grown up and left, a deceased spouse or they simply lack the energy to go places and meet people.

Communication in animals:  Surprise!  Social interaction and communication is not completely unique to us.  Animals communicate as do we, but they do not do so in an advanced way.  We were like this in our primal stages of life as well.  Their thought process is very common among those who fight for survival.  The only thing that divides us and animals is our brains, hence why we still have a lot of our primal genes hidden inside of us.  Although in some domestic animals we have had the opportunity to see many different behaviors and communication between them such as dominance over food and space. They make sounds like barking, meowing and physical signs like biting or growling. Sometimes they even mourn the loss of a companion, friend or master for long periods of time.  It has been discovered that certain animals have the ability to detect negative emotions or sadness inside of us. With proper training animals have been able to communicate with humans too on a certain level.  Animals and Humans are not very different at all even if we are more evolved.

Why is it important to be social?:  When you think about it our entire species requires communication to have a functional society.  If this ability is compromised than our nations will inevitably falter.  Picture that every person on earth's mouth was sewn shut (and that there is no such thing as writing or social media).  No one would be able to tell someone anything at all.  A single foul action of a leader could cause a world war because no one would have the ability to communicate and work out the issue. How would you be able to tell someone how bad your day was? Or tell your future workplace how qualified and ready you are to take on an employment?  Even general things such as this we take for granted every single day of our lives.  Without communication we wouldn’t have been able to evolve and forge our towns into the world we live in today.

Conclusion:  Social interaction is something that has been offered to us for billions of years.  With it, we can finally understand the way others think and their opinions.  It has made our existence much more interesting to say the least.  Social interaction gave us the opportunity to grow and evolve as human beings into the lifestyle we live today with leaders, comfortable lives, the ability to learn.  Nothing I listed could have existed if we did everything by ourselves.  The best parts of life are lived with family and friends, so we should be thankful for what we are given.
