Elaborating On
Social Interation
Introduction: What is a life without social interaction? We have lived out our entire history with the help of each other. Without this mental tool it is not even guaranteed that we would be standing here today. It is essential to our environment as humans because of our social nature. Many beings are social, and they use this as a method to relieve stress and call for help when needed. The paragraphs below list some of the effects, facts, and reasons as to why social interaction is important.
Social interaction today comparing to the past: In the past a lot of our survival instincts have effected us immensely in modern times. The fight flight or freeze response would be a good example as to how that is. In terms of social interaction in the past, there are many reasons as to why we need it to survive. When a predator approached us it was preferable to have someone by our side to help us. A lot of animals use social interaction for survival as do we. Some animals are more social than others such as elephants, wolves, meerkats and monkeys.
In today’s age social interaction is much more like emotional support because we do not have to deal with the primal aspects of life any longer. Status plays a big part in how we interact. It can also cause a great deal of stress. We crave to be noticed and praised which is why we admire those who are famous or popular. With the communication we have today we can build and destroy beyond our desire. It is a good example of how we have come since the cavemen days.

How does our childhood influence social interaction?: The experiences in our past influence our future on a very high level. Even some memories we don’t remember have an impact. A couple studies have shown that the emotional support given to a child between the first 1 to 4 years of age can deeply affect their thought process, personality and how the interact with others on a day to day basis. These types of thoughts and interaction habits caused by past events can even affect grown men and women up to 30 or 40 years later. This is one of the reasons why abuse from parents is not tolerated in most countries especially in the primary years of the child's life. It can cause emotional destruction for a child causing them to interact bad with others, often get into trouble, receive lower grades and gain post traumatic stress disorder. This proves the the quote “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” to be painfully true.
